Pastor: The Rev. Brad BusiekBrad Busiek became the Pastor of Newell Presbyterian Church during the summer of 2001. He grew up in Houston, Texas, and graduated with a degree in biology from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. During college, Brad pitched for the school’s baseball team and worked at: the Presbyterian Mo-Ranch Assembly, First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, and Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Houston. He received his Master of Divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. While in seminary Brad served as a pastoral intern at First Presbyterian Church in Toms River, New Jersey and as a chaplain at the Methodist Hospital in Houston. In August of 2001, Brad married his wife, Amy, who is also a graduate from Princeton and an ordained pastor. She joined the staff at Newell Presbyterian Church in September of 2006 as the part-time Minister of Education. Brad and Amy have two children: Benjamin and Phoebe. Send him an email.
Parish Associate for Education: Rev. Amy BusiekAmy Busiek joined the staff of Newell Presbyterian Church in 2006. She grew up in Eureka, California and went to college at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. After college, she worked for two years as the Director of Youth Ministry at Los Gatos Presbyterian Church in the bay area of California. Then, she entered Princeton Theological Seminary and received her Master in Divinity in the year 2001. While in seminary, Amy worked as a student intern at Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville, NJ, and as a chaplain at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Choir Director/Accompanist: Beau StroupeBeau Stroupe recently moved back to the Charlotte area from Nashville, TN, where he served in both large and small churches. (He has also lived in Atlanta, GA and New York City where he was active in music and recording.) Beau is an accomplished singer, songwriter, artist, and actor. He has worked extensively with musicians like Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, and Stephen Curtis Chapman. And, he has traveled widely leading seminars on worship, music, and the arts. (He has even gone to Russia, the Philippines, France, and Iraq as a conference speaker/consultant for church music.)
He appreciates both traditional and contemporary music. But, most importantly, he pays attention to the words of the songs. He sees music as something that helps people to understand and experience the depth of God’s love in Jesus Christ.
Beau has four children Abbye 20, Zach 17, Hope 16, and Noah 14.
Besides leading the music at Newell Presbyterian, he continues to use his gifts for other interests such as consulting churches, singing in the opera, and acting in the Charlotte Theater.
