Disciple Teams are small groups
that meet together monthly in which people of all ages and
backgrounds:
• care for and support one another,
• discuss how the sermon applies to their daily lives,
• engage in a spiritual exercise,
• share ideas and make real plans for which to service
our
church and our community.
Who are on Disciple Teams?
You are! We hope that everybody who attends worship also
joins a Disciple Team. These teams are intergenerational
with both youth and adults participating. The Disciple
Teams are also meant to be invitational, so friends, family
members, and visitors are always welcome to contribute to the
ministry that occurs within the Disciple Teams.
What Happens in a Disciple Team?
The Disciple Teams focus on three areas: WITH, IN, and OUT.
WITH
The first 10 minutes will be a time to touch base “WITH” each
other. People will share their ups and downs and what struggles
and joys they might be experiencing in their journey with God.
You will be welcomed and supported in a loving community that
cares about you.
IN
The next 10 minutes will be a time to nourish
your “INner” spiritual growth. Spiritual readings or exercises
will be provided to each group by the pastor. Every week you
will learn a new spiritual exercise to guide you in daily
prayer.
OUT
The last 25 minutes will be a time of “OUTreach.”
It is a time when we are serious about physically responding to
God’s love. Each Disciple Team will be engaged in two forms of
service - inside the church and outside the church. They will be
responsible for coordinating a certain area of ministry for the
church (e.g. Worship, Christian Education, or Property), and
they will each regularly do a unique service project for the
community outside the church.
